Our Ethos

What is Bullock Island Belize?

Bullock Island is a luxury private island resort located five miles southeast of Placencia, in the Stann Creek District of Belize. One of the most intimate private island escapes in the Caribbean, the resort sits within reach of the Belize Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world, offering guests a setting that is as extraordinary as it is unspoiled.

We are setting a new standard for authentic Belizean hospitality. Not the kind built on templates and trends, but one rooted in community, sustainability, and experiences that can only happen here, on the Caribbean Sea.

Our mission is to offer guests a genuinely Belizean escape. Whether that means snorkelling the Belize Barrier Reef at sunrise, unwinding in a beachfront cabana with nothing but ocean ahead of you, or sitting down to a meal made from ingredients sourced directly from Mennonite farmers along the Placencia coast every moment at Bullock Island is designed to connect you with this extraordinary place and its people.

We believe great hospitality goes beyond comfort. That is why we operate with deep respect for Belize's natural environment, its coastal ecosystems, and the local communities of the Placencia Peninsula and Stann Creek District. Sustainability and integrity guide every decision we make from who we hire to how we source.

Whether you are planning a secluded Caribbean getaway, a wellness retreat in Belize, a private island buyout for your group, or an adventure-filled trip to the cayes, Bullock Island is where luxury, nature, and culture come together, authentically, and unforgettably.

Meet the Owner

Who Is Behind Bullock Island Belize?

Bullock Island was built by Reggie Bullock, NBA player and former forward for the Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, and New York Knicks. But it did not start with a business plan. It started with a YouTube video.

When a friend mentioned investing in island real estate, NBA player Reggie Bullock did what most people do, he went searching online. What he found stopped him in his tracks: a remote, unspoiled island off the coast of Placencia, shaped from above like a heart. For Reggie, that wasn't a coincidence. One of his sons is named Heart, and in that moment, the island felt like it had already chosen him.

He sent his family to experience it first while he was deep in the season. When he finally set foot on Bullock Island himself, he knew. This was the place he'd been looking for, somewhere truly remote on the Caribbean Sea to call home once his playing days were done.

But building here was about more than a retreat. It was an act of love.

The main villa on the island, a six-bedroom home was built as a dedication to his grandmother, the woman who raised Reggie and his siblings under one roof. That same spirit lives in the house today and her name on one of the doors. A quiet, permanent tribute to the woman who shaped him.

And the love doesn't stop there. When guests arrive by boat, the first thing they see is the island's signature "Bullock Island", carrying with it the names of Reggie's two sisters, Mia and Kiosha, who were tragically taken too soon. Their names greet every visitor who sets foot on the island, a lasting reminder that this place was built not just for guests, but in honor of family.

That personal touch defines everything about Bullock Island. Reggie is hands-on and involved in operations even when he's thousands of miles away. Guests don't just visit a resort. They step into something built with intention, with family, and with a deep love for Belize and all it has to offer.
